The universe is mysterious and beautiful….In my last post, I mentioned how all of our animals have come to us, literally showing up at the door as in the case of our beloved Lucky. For the past several weeks, we have been awaiting the day that our new kitten could come home to us. Our friend had taken in a pregnant cat who had 5 beautiful kittens. And we claimed the runt of the litter.
Last week, while we were feeding our souls with the beauty that is Montana,
Lucky was hit by a car and killed.
I have been trying to compose a poem for Lucky all week but I simply can’t touch the love with words. What I can say is that I am so honored to be a part of this family. My children and husband and I all grieved without inhibition for our loss. We honored the love that we had for Lucky with sobs and tears, and we were able to release our sadness with the swell of pain that we had as we buried Lucky.
While buying an animal online is totally foreign and strange to me, we have fallen in love with the Boston Terrier breed due to our friend SueSue whom we got to dog sit this summer. With the passing of Lucky, it feels right to bring in a new puppy and what better timing than with a new kitten so that they can become bff’s?!
Well, quite literally, as I was ordering this little heart breaker…
my husband and daughter were feeding this cat in our living room.
They found him sitting on our renter’s car at our rental property. He was starving…Now we have a cat conundrum because my daughter is quickly bonding with this beauty while our other little sweetie awaits turning old enough to leave her mamma.
As you can see in the first two photos, animals become such engrained parts of our daily lives that time passes with more joy over the years. We buried Lucky right next to his favorite scratching post, the Chinese willow in front of our house. It is going to be interesting around here with all the puppy/kitty love abounding.
